ShareNet

ShareNet meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the church library, and provides outreach ministry to members and friends coping with loss, illness, our elderly friends and those who are otherwise in need of support.

We are taking the Sunday worship service, via DVD, to Maple Lake Assisted Living in Paw Paw each Sunday in the early afternoon.  ShareNet will be looking for people who might like to join this worship service. To participate call Pat Conner at 760-2076.

ShareNet also recently completed a study of the book “Don’t Sing Songs to A Heavy Heart” by Kenneth Haugk, and recommends this title to anyone who ever wonders what to say (or not to say) to someone coping with illness, grief or other troubles.

This book, along with others recommended by ShareNet members, will soon be available for loan through our church library.

Other recommended titles include:

-     Making Rounds with Oscar by David Dosa, M.D.  – an entertaining and enlightening story of a doctor who struggles to listen and care for his patients and their care givers, but learns from Oscar, a cat who teaches by example, embracing moments of life that so many of us shy away from.

-     Loving Grief by Paul Bennett – the ShareNet member who recommends this book found it “so moving,” she couldn’t put it down, but will go back and read it again and again.  “It gives you permission to feel the way you do” about loss and grief.

Do you know of a good book that helped you through a troubled time, or that teaches about caring?  Please pass the title along to a member of ShareNet, or donate a copy to the collection.
